ADV601 is a low-cost multi-format video codec that features precise compressed bit rate control, field-independent compression, flexible video interface, supports all common formats including CCIR-656, general purpose 8-, 16- or 32-bit host interface with 512 deep 32-bit FIFO.
The ADV601 is a single‑chip, all‑digital CMOS VLSI video codec designed for real‑time compression and decompression of CCIR‑601 and CCIR‑656 digital video. It integrates video I/O, host I/O, DRAM manager, DSP interface and on‑chip transform buffer, enabling compact system designs.
Key features include wavelet‑based filtering, adaptive quantization, run‑length and Huffman coding, a 512‑deep 32‑bit FIFO, and optional DSP support for bin‑width calculations. The device supports multiple video formats, offers compression ratios from visually loss‑less to 350:1, and operates at a maximum pixel rate of 14.75 MHz.
