The MAX7313 is a 16 I/O port I2C-compatible serial interface peripheral that can be configured as either an open-drain current-sinking output or a logic input with transition detection. It supports PWM current drive and is pin and software compatible with the MAX7311, PCA9535, and PCA9555.
The MAX7313 is a 2‑wire I²C‑compatible I/O expander that provides 16 configurable ports plus a 17th port usable as an interrupt or general‑purpose output. Each port can operate as an open‑drain output capable of sinking up to 50 mA at 5.5 V or as a logic input with transition detection.
The device includes integrated 8‑bit PWM control for LED intensity, with additional 4‑bit per‑port granularity, and supports hot‑insertion. It operates over a temperature range of –40 °C to +125 °C and offers 64 selectable I²C slave addresses via three address pins.
| Operating Supply Voltage (V+) | 2 V to 3.6 V |
|---|---|
| Number of I/O ports | 16 ports + 1 interrupt/general‑purpose port |
| Maximum output current per port | 50 mA (5.5 V rated) |
| PWM control resolution | 8‑bit global, 4‑bit per‑port |
| Operating temperature range | -40 °C to +125 °C |
| I²C slave address length | 7‑bit |
It provides 16 configurable I/O ports plus a 17th port that can be used as an interrupt or general‑purpose output.
Each output can sink up to 50 mA while tolerating up to 5.5 V.
The device operates from –40 °C to +125 °C.
It can be configured for any of 64 possible I²C slave addresses using the AD0‑AD2 pins.
