This document describes the features and characteristics of the ADP124/ADP125 series CMOS linear regulators, including input voltage supply range, maximum output current, initial accuracy, fixed and adjustable output voltage range, low dropout voltage and quiescent current, excellent PSRR performance, compact package, etc. The product is suitable for applications such as digital cameras, audio devices, portable and battery-powered equipment, automatic meter reading (AMR) meters, GPS and location.
The ADP124 and ADP125 are low‑quiescent, low‑dropout linear regulators designed for input voltages from 2.3 V to 5.5 V and delivering up to 500 mA of output current. They offer a very low dropout voltage (130 mV at 500 mA), 1 % initial accuracy, and ultra‑low quiescent and shutdown currents (45 pA and <1 pA). These characteristics make them ideal for battery‑powered and space‑constrained applications such as digital cameras, portable equipment, AMR meters, GPS units, and medical instrumentation.
The devices are supplied in compact 8‑lead exposed‑paddle MSOP and LFCSP packages and include internal soft‑start (350 µs), current‑limit, and thermal‑overload protection. Recommended ceramic capacitors (≥0.7 µF, X7R/X5R) support stable operation with the tiny 1 µF input and output capacitors. Detailed thermal data, pin descriptions, and typical performance graphs are provided to aid PCB layout and thermal design.
