The MAX1602 is a single-channel CardBus and PCMCIA VCC/VPP power-switching network that features low-resistance MOSFET switches, small packaging, soft-switching action, and compliance with PCMCIA specifications for 3V/5V switching.
The MAX1602 integrates a network of low‑resistance MOSFET switches that provide selectable VCC and VPP voltages to a single CardBus or PC Card host socket. It supports 3.3 V‑only switching for fast 32‑bit CardBus applications and includes independent internal charge pumps, over‑current protection, fault‑flag output and thermal‑shutdown circuitry.
Typical applications include data loggers, handheld terminals, docking stations and PCMCIA read/write drives. The device is compatible with Cirrus, Databook and Intel PC Card interface controllers and offers break‑before‑make switching, soft‑switching for low inrush current and a standby supply current as low as 11 µA.
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to +85 °C |
|---|---|
| Standby Supply Current (max) | 11 µA |
| Maximum VCC Switch Current | 1 A |
| Thermal Shutdown Threshold | +150 °C |
| Fault Output Type | Open‑drain (requires external pull‑up) |
The device draws a maximum of 11 µA in standby mode.
Thermal shutdown occurs when the junction temperature exceeds +150 °C.
The VCC switch can handle up to 1 A of load current.
