The MAX7314 is a 17-channel I/O expander chip produced by Texas Instruments with 8-bit PWM current control function and hot plug support.
The MAX7314 provides a serial‑interfaced 18‑port GPIO solution with per‑port LED intensity control, 2‑phase blinking, and an optional interrupt output. It operates over a 2 V to 3.6 V supply range and supports hot‑insertion, making it suitable for LCD backlights, status LEDs, keypad backlights and other system I/O applications.
The device includes an internal 32 kHz oscillator for PWM LED dimming, offering a global 16‑step intensity control plus 16‑step per‑port granularity. All ports are open‑drain, 5.5 V‑rated, and can sink up to 50 mA each, with a total ground current rating of 350 mA. Detailed electrical, timing and package specifications are provided for design integration.
| Supply Voltage (V+) | 2 V to 3.6 V |
|---|---|
| Maximum Port Output Current | 50 mA per port |
