The TLP1211 photointerrupter combines a GaAs infrared LED, a silicon phototransistor and an internal amplifier to detect the presence of objects. When the light beam is interrupted, the output goes high, making it suitable for copier, printer, vending machine and other equipment that require position detection.
The device operates from a 5 V supply, provides an open‑collector output up to 16 mA, and is rated for temperatures from –25 °C to 75 °C. Mechanical specifications include a 12 mm gap and a 1.2 mm mounting plate thickness. The polycarbonate case requires careful handling to avoid damage from certain chemicals, and screws must be tightened to a torque of 0.59 N·m.
