The MicroRotofor cell is a preparative isoelectric focusing (IEF) instrument that fractionates up to 2.5 ml protein samples into ten discrete fractions. It uses a cylindrical focusing chamber with integrated Peltier cooling and a vacuum‑assisted harvesting station for rapid, native‑state protein separation.
This manual covers unpacking, description of major components, setup and operation procedures, safety interlocks, cooling settings, power requirements, disassembly, cleaning, analysis of results, optimization tips, and troubleshooting of common issues.
| Sample capacity | 2.5 ml |
|---|---|
| Number of fractions | 10 (200–250 µl each) |
| Maximum cell voltage | 1,000 VDC |
| Maximum cell power | 2 W |
| Dimensions (W × D × H) | 29.5 cm × 18.8 cm × 16 cm (11.5" × 7.4" × 6.3") |
| Shipping weight | 10.25 lb |
| Input power requirements | 100–120 VAC 50/60 Hz or 220–240 VAC 50/60 Hz |
The lid provides a safety interlock that breaks current to the cell when the lid is removed; the power supply must be turned off before removing the lid.
