HTC LM39300/39301/39302 Low‑Dropout Regulator Datasheet

LM39300/39301/39302 is a 3A low-voltage low-dropout regulator with a minimum guaranteed output current of 3A and a typical dropout of 500mV (at 3A). It is ideal for 3.0V to 2.5V, 2.5V to 1.8V, or 1.5V conversions. Additionally, it features 1% initial accuracy, low ground current, current limiting and thermal shutdown, reversed-battery protection, reversed-leakage protection, fast transient response, etc.

About this manual

The LM39300/39301/39302 family are 3 A low‑voltage low‑dropout (LDO) linear regulators offered in TO‑263 and TO‑220 packages. They deliver fixed output voltages of 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V and 5.0 V, with an adjustable version covering 1.25 V to 16 V. Typical dropout is 500 mV at full load, making them suitable for PC add‑in cards and battery‑powered systems.

Key features include 1 % initial accuracy, low ground current, current limiting, thermal shutdown, reversed‑battery and reversed‑leakage protection, and a TTL/CMOS‑compatible enable pin on the LM39301. The LM39301 also provides an open‑collector error‑flag output, while the LM39302 offers programmable output voltage.

Frequently asked questions

What is the typical dropout voltage of the LM39300 at full load?

It is typically 500 mV when delivering 3 A.

What protection features are included in the LM39300 series?

The devices provide over‑current limiting, thermal shutdown, reversed‑battery protection, reversed‑leakage protection, and reversed‑lead insertion.

What does the error‑flag output on the LM39301 indicate?

It is an open‑collector output that signals when the output voltage drops 5 % below the nominal value.

What is the recommended minimum load current for proper regulation?

A minimum load current of 10 mA is required.
