LM339 is a precision voltage comparator with four independent precision voltage comparators, each with a maximum offset voltage of 20mV, specifically designed for operation from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages.
The LM339 consists of four independent precision voltage comparators designed for single‑supply operation from 2 V up to 36 V. It features very low supply current (0.8 mA), low input bias current (≤400 nA) and input offset voltage as low as 2 mV typical. The device’s input common‑mode range includes ground, making it suitable for interfacing with TTL, DTL, ECL, MOS and CMOS logic families.
Typical applications include A/D converters, MOS clock generators, multivibrators and high‑voltage logic gates. The datasheet provides absolute maximum ratings, electrical characteristics, typical performance curves and recommended circuit examples.
| Supply Voltage (max) | +18 V or +36 V |
|---|---|
| Supply Current (typical) | 0.8 mA |
| Power Dissipation (max) | 570 mW |
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to +70 °C |
| Storage Temperature Range | -65 °C to +150 °C |
It can operate from a single supply as low as 2 V up to a maximum of 18 V or 36 V depending on the package.
The device draws about 0.8 mA of supply current.
Typical input offset voltage is around 2 mV, with a maximum of about 5 mV.
