The X9252 is a low power 256-tap 2-wire bus Up/Down interface quad digitally-controlled potentiometer from Intersil.
The X9252 is a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit that incorporates four digitally‑controlled potentiometers (XDCP). Each potentiometer provides 256 resistive tap points with 0.4 % resolution and can be operated as a three‑terminal potentiometer or a two‑terminal variable resistor via either a 2‑wire serial bus or an Up/Down interface.
Key features include a supply voltage range of 2.7 V to 5.5 V, standby current under 100 µA, maximum wiper current of 3 mA, typical wiper resistance of 40 Ω, and non‑volatile storage of wiper positions with 100‑year data retention and 100 k data‑change endurance per bit.
| Number of potentiometers | Quad (4) |
|---|---|
| Tap points per potentiometer | 256 |
| Resolution | 0.4 % (256 steps) |
| Supply voltage | 2.7 V to 5.5 V |
| Standby current | < 100 µA |
| Maximum wiper current | 3 mA |
| Wiper resistance (typical) | 40 Ω |
| Endurance (data changes per bit) | 100 000 |
| Data retention | 100 years |
The X9252 can be controlled via a 2‑wire serial interface or an Up/Down interface for individual potentiometers.
Each potentiometer provides 256 tap points, giving a resolution of 0.4 %.
The standby current is less than 100 µA.
It operates from 2.7 V up to 5.5 V.
