The AD8335 is a low noise, low cost quad variable gain amplifier. It features a low noise preamplifier (PrA), differential output, high accuracy linear gain control and excellent overload performance. The AD8335 is suitable for a variety of applications, such as medical imaging (ultrasound, gamma cameras), sonar and test and measurement.
The AD8335 is a quad variable gain amplifier with a low‑noise preamplifier, designed for cost‑ and power‑sensitive applications such as medical imaging, sonar and test equipment. Each channel offers a gain range of up to 48 dB, fully differential signal paths, active input matching and selectable maximum gains.
The document includes functional block diagrams, detailed pin descriptions, electrical specifications, typical performance curves, test circuit examples, an evaluation board layout, a bill of materials and ordering information. It also lists absolute maximum ratings, ESD precautions and mechanical dimensions of the 64‑lead LFCSP package.
| Quiescent Power (PrA and VGA enabled) | 95 mW per channel |
|---|---|
| Gain Range (Low‑gain mode) | -10 dB to +38 dB |
| Input Voltage Range (Preamp) | 625 mV p‑p |
| Voltage Noise (typical) | 1.3 nV/√Hz |
| 3‑dB Bandwidth | 85 MHz |
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to +85 °C |
The preamplifier accepts single‑ended input signals up to 625 mV peak‑to‑peak.
In low‑gain mode the gain can be set from –10 dB to +38 dB, and in high‑gain mode from –2 dB to +46 dB.
Each channel draws about 95 mW (approximately 19 mA at 5 V) when the preamplifier and VGA are active.
