The new ACS 800 model of ABB's electromagnetic stirrer brings good savings for Ovako Bar Oy Ab's ladle furnace. The old YOQD driver needed to be replaced with ABB's modern ACS 800 driver due to difficulty in obtaining necessary spare parts. The main reason for this investment was to ensure uninterrupted production, as all production in Ovako Imatra relies on this stirrer. All failures in the old driver would reduce or stop production. The new ACS 800 was commissioned in 2006. The dismounting of the old driver and installation of the new ACS 800 posed a great challenge, but thanks to a good relationship and cooperation between ABB and Ovako Imatra, it was successfully completed.
