National Manuals (Industrial)

NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR - LM2750 handbook

The LM2750 is a regulated switched-capacitor doubler that produces a low-noise output voltage. The 5.0V output voltage option (LM2750-5.0) can supply up to 120mA of output current over a 2.9V to 5.6V input range, as well as up to 40mA of output current when the input voltage is as low as 2.7V. An adjustable output voltage option with similar output current capabilities is also available (LM2750-ADJ). The LM2750 has been placed in National’s 10-pin LLP, a package with excellent thermal properties that keeps the part from overheating under almost all rated operating conditions A perfect fit for space-constrained, battery-powered applications, the LM2750 requires only 3 external components: one input capacitor, one output capacitor, and one flying capacitor. Small, inexpensive ceramic capacitors are recommended for use. These capacitors, in conjunction with the 1.7MHz fixed switching frequency of the LM2750, yield low output voltage ripple, beneficial for systems requiring a low-noise supply. Pre-regulation minimizes input current ripple, reducing input noise to negligible levels. A tightly controlled soft-start feature limits inrush currents during part activation. Shutdown completely disconnects the load from the input. Output current limiting and thermal shutdown circuitry protect both the LM2750 and connected devices in the event of output shorts or excessive current loads.

LM27961 is a charge-pump-based white-LED driver that is ideal for mobile phone display backlighting. It can drive 4 LEDs for a main phone display backlight and 3 LEDs for a sub-display backlight. The driver provides excellent current and brightness matching in all LEDs. The LED driver current sources are split into two independently controlled groups. The primary group (Group A) can be used to backlight a main phone display with up to 4 LEDs, with low-side current drivers accommodating common-anode-type LEDs. The second group (Group B) can backlight a secondary display with up to 3 LEDs, with high-side current drivers accommodating common-cathode-type LEDs. Both Group A and Group B can also drive standard two-terminal LEDs, and provide other general lighting functions (keypad lighting, fun lighting, etc). The brightness of the two LED groups can be adjusted independently with external resistors. The LM27961 works off an extended Li-Ion input voltage range (2.7V to 5.5V), achieving voltage boost with a high-efficiency 3/2x-gain charge pump. The LM27961 is available in National’s chip-scale 18-bump micro SMD package.

NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR -LM3687 Step-Down DC-DC Converter with Integrated Low Dropout Regulator Startup Mode handbook

The LM3687 is a step-down DC-DC converter with an integrated low dropout Linear Regulator optimized for powering ultra-low voltage circuits from a single Li-Ion cell or 3 cell NiMH/NiCd batteries. It provides a dual output with fixed output voltages and combined load current up to 750mA in post regulation mode or 1100mA in independent mode of operation, over an input voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V. There are several different fixed output voltage combinations available (refer to table 'Voltage Options'). The Linear Regulator being driven from the fixed output voltage of the buck converter (post regulation) translates to high efficiency. The device offers superior features and performance for mobile phones and similar portable applications with complex power management systems. Automatic intelligent switching between PWM low-noise and PFM low-current mode offers improved efficiency over the full load current range. During full-power operation, a fixed-frequency 1.8MHz (typ.) PWM mode drives loads from ~80mA to 750mA max. Hysteretic PFM mode extends the battery life through reduction of the quiescent current during light loads and system standby. The LM3687 also features internal protection against over-temperature, current overload and under-voltage conditions. Two enable pins allow the separate operation of either the DC-DC or the Linear Regulator.

NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR LM2753 High Power Switched Capacitor Voltage Convertor/Flash LED Driver Manual

The LM2753 is a high-power switched capacitor voltage converter/flash LED driver. It can drive a flash LED with a pulsed current of 400mA at an input voltage of 3.6V. The device uses a switched capacitor doubler and provides a regulated 5V output (VOUT) over an input supply range of 3.0V to 5.5V. The switched output, IOUT, takes less than 10ns to turn on and provide maximum current to a Flash LED. Flash LED current is set via a ballast resistor. Continuous illumination current (Torch Mode) is programmed by connecting a resistor between IOUT and VOUT. This device uses only three small, low-cost ceramic capacitors. The LM2753 uses Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) regulation. Typical operating frequency is 725kHz. Under no-load conditions, the LM2753 operates on only 60µA. If the output is connected to ground, the charge pump stays in the gain of 1 which helps limit the input current to 300mA (typ.). The LM2753 is available in a 10-pin No Pullback Leadless Lead-frame Package: LLP-10.
