INTERSIL ISL3179E handbook

Intersil's ISL3179E is a ±15kV IEC61000 ESD Protected, 3.3V powered, single transceiver that meets both the RS-485 and RS-422 standards for balanced communication. This device has low bus currents (+220μA/-150μA), so it presents a “1/5 unit load” to the RS-485 bus. This allows up to 160 transceivers on the network without violating the RS-485 specification’s 32 unit load maximum, and without using repeaters. Receiver (Rx) inputs feature a “Full Fail-Safe” design, which ensures a logic high Rx output if Rx inputs are floating, shorted, or terminated but undriven. Hot Plug circuitry ensures that the Tx and Rx outputs remain in a high impedance state while the power supply stabilizes.

INTERSIL -ISL6545 ISL6545A handbook

ISL6545 and ISL6545A are 5V or 12V single-phase synchronous buck pulse-width modulation (PWM) controllers that make simple work out of implementing a complete control and protection scheme for a DC/DC step-down converter driving N-channel MOSFETs in a synchronous buck topology. Since it can work with either 5V or 12V supplies, this one IC can be used in a wide variety of applications within a system. The ISL6545 integrates the control, gate drivers, output adjustment, monitoring and protection functions into a single 8 Ld SOIC or 10 Ld DFN package. The ISL6545 provides single feedback loop, voltage-mode control with fast transient response. The output voltage can be precisely regulated to as low as 0.6V, with a maximum tolerance of ±1.0% over temperature and line voltage variations. A selectable fixed frequency oscillator (ISL6545 for 300kHz; ISL6545A for 600kHz) reduces design complexity, while balancing typical application cost and efficiency. The error amplifier features a 20MHz gain-bandwidth product and 9V/μs slew rate which enables high converter bandwidth for fast transient performance. The resulting PWM duty cycles range from 0% to 100%. Protection from overcurrent conditions is provided by monitoring the rDS(ON) of the lower MOSFET to inhibit PWM operation appropriately. This approach simplifies the implementation and improves efficiency by eliminating the need for a current sense resistor.

ISL8105 integrates a linear regulator, boot diode, and N-Channel MOSFET gate drivers, reducing external component count and board space requirements. These features make the IC suitable for a wide range of applications. Utilizing voltage-mode control, the output voltage can be precisely regulated to as low as 0.6V. The 0.6V internal reference features a maximum tolerance of ±1.0% over the commercial temperature range, and ±1.5% over the industrial temperature range. Two fixed oscillator frequency versions are available; 300kHz (ISL8105 for high efficiency applications) and 600kHz (ISL8105A for fast transient applications). The ISL8105 features the capability of safe start-up with pre-biased load. It also provides overcurrent protection by monitoring the ON-resistance of the bottom-side MOSFET to inhibit PWM operation appropriately. During start-up interval, the resistor connected to BGATE/BSOC pin is employed to program overcurrent protection condition. This approach simplifies the implementation and does not deteriorate converter efficiency.
