The ADM4210 is a hot swap controller designed to safely enable a printed circuit board to be removed and inserted into a live backplane. It utilizes an external N-channel power MOSFET with a current control loop that monitors load current through a sense resistor. An internal charge pump enhances the gate of the N-channel FET to drive the external switch.
The device is available in two options: the ADM4210-1 with automatic retry for overcurrent faults and the ADM4210-2 with latch-off functionality. It operates with a supply voltage ranging from 2.7 V to 16.5 V and is packaged in a low-profile 6-lead TSOT package.
| Operating Voltage Range | 2.7 V to 16.5 V |
|---|---|
| Supply Current | 0.65 mA to 3.5 mA |
| Undervoltage Lockout Threshold | 2.2 V to 2.65 V |
| Gate Drive Voltage (VCC=5V) | 7.6 V to 16 V |
| Operating Temperature Range | -40°C to +85°C |
| Package Type | 6-Lead TSOT |
The ADM4210 is available as the ADM4210-1 with automatic retry and the ADM4210-2 with latch-off for overcurrent faults.
The current limit is set via an external sense resistor connected between the VCC and SENSE pins.
It is the enable input for the device; a rising edge on this pin clears a fault and restarts the device on the latched off model.
