This document provides an overview of the AMD Embedded G-Series Platform, detailing its APU features, controller hubs, and applications for low-power…
The AMD Embedded G-Series processor is the world's first integrated circuit to combine a low-power CPU and a discrete-level GPU into a single embedded Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). This platform delivers high performance multimedia content delivery in a small form factor and power-efficient design, ideal for applications such as Digital Signage, Set-Top Boxes, and Industrial Control Systems.
The platform offers scalable choices for CPU performance and graphics, with models available at 4.5W, 9W, or 18W thermal design power (TDP). It supports advanced interfaces via companion controller hubs like the AMD A50M and A55E, featuring support for 6Gb/s SATA, Generation 2 PCI Express, and HD Audio. The architecture includes a high-performance x86 core, integrated DDR3 memory controller, and support for DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.0.
| Thermal Design Power (TDP) | 4.5W, 9W or 18W |
|---|---|
| Memory Controller | 64-bit DDR3 SDRAM up to 1333MT/s |
| Package Type (APU) | 413-pin lidless micro BGA |
| Package Type (Controller Hub) | 605-pin lidless |
| Graphics Support | DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0, OpenCL 1.1 |
| SATA Speed | 6Gb/s |
It is the world's first integrated circuit to combine a low-power CPU and a discrete-level GPU into a single embedded Accelerated Processing Unit (APU).
It is ideal for Digital Signage, x86 Set-Top Box, IP-TV, Thin Client, Information Kiosk, Point-of-Sale, Casino Gaming, Media Servers, and Industrial Control Systems.
