This user manual describes the STMicroelectronics STCS1 constant current controller for high brightness LED lighting.
This document is a user manual for the STCS1 constant current controller, specifically focusing on the STCS1A evaluation board. It describes the device's function as a BiCMOS controller designed to supply high power LEDs with precise constant current, suitable for automotive and industrial applications. The manual details the board's configuration, including input/output connections and setup procedures for continuous current and PWM dimming modes.
| Input voltage range | 4.5 V to 40 V |
|---|---|
| Maximum input voltage rating | 45 V |
| Output current precision | ±10% |
| Maximum output current | 1.5 A |
| Shutdown current consumption | less than 1 µA |
| PWM dimming frequency range | 20 Hz up to 1.7 kHz |
The minimum input voltage depends on the total forward voltage of the LEDs and the maximum dropout voltage.
Short the EN pin to the 5 V pin on the J2 connector to enable the controller.
The current is set by an external sensing resistor connected between the FB pin and GND.
