About this manual

The ADN2870 is a 3.3 V dual-loop laser diode driver designed for advanced SFP and SFF modules, compliant with SFP/SFF MSA and SFF-8472 digital diagnostics. It features dual-loop control of average power and extinction ratio to automatically compensate for variations in laser characteristics over temperature and aging, eliminating the need for expensive temperature calibration. The device supports single-rate operation from 50 Mbps to 3.3 Gbps or multirate operation from 155 Mbps to 3.3 Gbps.

Frequently asked questions

What is the operating speed range of the ADN2870?

The device supports single-rate operation from 50 Mbps to 3.3 Gbps or multirate operation from 155 Mbps to 3.3 Gbps.

Does the ADN2870 require temperature calibration?

No, the laser only needs to be calibrated at 25°C because the device automatically compensates for variations over temperature and aging.

What is the function of the FAIL output?

The FAIL output asserts when a fault occurs, causing the bias and modulation currents to turn off.
