ST8RO00 Synchronous Boost Converter Application Note AN2627

AN2627 application note introduces the ST8R00 family of synchronous step-up DC-DC converters, which provide up to 1A current output, input voltage range of 4V to 6V, output voltage range of 6V to 12V, switching frequency of 1.2MHz, high switching frequency, can use surface mount small components, use resistor divider to set output voltage value, need inductor and two capacitors, low ESR surface mount ceramic capacitors ensure low output ripple, ST8R00 series converters have two versions, continuous mode ST8R00W and pulse mode ST8R00.

Frequently asked questions

What is the function of the INH pin?

When the INH voltage is higher than 2 V, the device is ON; if it is lower than 0.8 V, the device is OFF.

Which capacitor types are recommended?

The ST8ROO family has been designed to work properly with X5R or X7R SMD ceramic capacitors both at the input and at the output.
