A computer with RS-232 (or USB) I/O is required to send scripts to the command line interface and control the board via the Advantiv video evaluation software (AVES).
Windows OS is needed for controlling the board via the AVES application, and RS-232 software is needed for updating the firmware.
The board can be controlled via commands through the RS-232 command line interface, through repeater software via RS-232, or using the Advantiv video evaluation software (AVES).
The firmware is upgraded using standard Blackfin development tools, specifically VisualDSP++ 5.0 Update 8 and a JTAG debugger connected to the JTAG connector.
