About this manual

The TRS3318 is a dual-driver, dual-receiver RS-232 compatible transceiver designed for battery-powered systems such as PDAs, cellular phones, and notebooks. It operates from a single 2.25-V to 3-V supply using an integrated charge pump that requires only four 0.1-uF capacitors.

The device features enhanced electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection rated at +15 kV for the Human-Body Model (HBM), +8 kV for IEC 61000-4-2 Contact Discharge, and +8 kV for Air-Gap Discharge. It includes flexible power-saving modes like Auto-Powerdown Plus, which reduces supply current to 1 uA when the RS-232 cable is disconnected or drivers are inactive.
