This document introduces how to use varian 450-gc gas chromatograph for simulated distillation analysis
This document details the procedure for determining the boiling range distribution of petroleum products, specifically heavy gasoil and FCC feed, using capillary gas chromatography with flame ionization detection. The method adheres to the IP 480 standard, which is applicable to materials with a boiling range of at least 100 °C and final boiling points below 750 °C.
The analysis utilizes the Varian (now Agilent) 450-GC Gas Chromatograph Simulated Distillation Analyzer equipped with a temperature-controlled on-column injector, high-temperature FID, and an autosampler. The system employs Galaxie Software with the SimDist plug-in for calculations. A specific column, Varian CP-SimDist UltiMetal, is used with a calibration mixture of n-paraffins dissolved in carbon disulfide.
