bq29410/11/12 is a secondary overvoltage protection IC for 2-, 3-, or 4-cell lithium-ion battery packs from TI. It incorporates a high-accuracy precision overvoltage detection circuit and a programmable delay circuit for overvoltage detection time.
The bq2941x device is a secondary overvoltage protection integrated circuit designed for 2-, 3-, or 4-cell lithium-ion battery packs. It incorporates a high-accuracy precision overvoltage detection circuit and includes a programmable delay circuit to prevent false triggering during pulse charge operations.
When an internal cell reaches an overvoltage condition, the device starts charging an external capacitor through the CD pin. Once the voltage at this pin reaches 1.2 V, the OUT pin transitions from low to high, activating an externally connected N-channel FET to blow a fuse in the positive battery rail.
| Overvoltage detection threshold (bq29410) | 4.35 V |
|---|---|
| Overvoltage detection threshold (bq29411) | 4.40 V |
| Overvoltage detection threshold (bq29412) | 4.45 V |
| Supply voltage range | -0.3 V to 28 V |
| Operating ambient temperature range | -40°C to +110°C |
The device supports protection for 2-, 3-, or 4-cell lithium-ion battery packs.
The OUT pin transitions high, activating an external N-channel FET to blow a fuse in the positive battery rail.
