About this manual

Apple Xserve Diagnostics (AXD) is a tool designed to test Intel-based Xserve computers for hardware issues. It runs customizable sets of tests on key components including the Boot ROM, Ethernet controller, fans, hard drives, memory, power supply, processor, sensors, USB ports, and video controllers.

Users can run AXD in two modes: AXD EFI tools or AXD Mac OS X tools. AXD EFI tools allow for testing without interference from the operating system and are useful when the computer cannot boot into Mac OS X Server. AXD Mac OS X tools provide an enhanced interface with more extensive tests for sensors, hard drives, and video controllers.
