About this manual

The ExpressLane™ PEX8114 provides a flexible bridge solution that enables migration from legacy PCI and PCI‑X buses to PCI Express. It supports both forward and reverse transparent bridging, automatic lane reversal, hot‑plug, and power‑management features, all in a compact 17 mm × 17 mm BGA package.

Designed for motherboard, adapter‑board, mezzanine and remote‑expansion applications, the device can be used in forward mode to connect legacy PCI/PCI‑X devices to a PCI Express system, or in reverse mode to allow a PCI Express host to control legacy PCI/PCI‑X peripherals. Development tools and reference kits are provided to aid rapid design validation.
