This document introduces the features and characteristics of the CS5461A single-phase bidirectional power/energy IC product produced by Cirrus Logic, including energy data linearity, power measurement range, accuracy, power consumption, power supply method, working temperature range, and interface type.
The CS5461A is a CMOS monolithic power measurement IC that integrates two ADCs, a programmable‑gain amplifier, a computation engine, and an energy‑to‑frequency pulse output. It is intended for single‑phase, 2‑ or 3‑wire metering applications and can interface to shunt resistors or current transformers for current sensing and to voltage dividers or potential transformers for voltage sensing.
Key features include a simple three‑wire serial interface compatible with SPI and Microwire, three energy‑pulse outputs (E1, E2, E3) for mechanical counters or stepper motors, on‑chip temperature sensing, voltage‑sag detection, and system‑level calibration functions. The device operates from a single +5 V supply and provides a 2.5 V on‑chip reference.
It uses a simple three‑wire digital serial interface that is compatible with SPI and Microwire protocols.
