The Maxim MAX3384E is a 3 V‑powered EIA/TIA‑232 and V.28/V.24 communications interface designed for low‑power, high‑data‑rate applications. It features a proprietary low‑dropout dual charge‑pump that provides true RS‑232 voltage levels from a +3.0 V to +5.5 V supply, and it guarantees operation up to 250 kbps while consuming only 1 µA in shutdown mode.
The device includes two RS‑232 drivers and two receivers, supports a wide temperature range (commercial 0 °C to +70 °C or extended –40 °C to +85 °C), and offers robust ESD protection (±15 kV HBM, ±8 kV IEC contact, ±15 kV IEC air‑gap). It is supplied in a space‑saving 20‑pin SSOP package and is suited for hand‑held equipment, battery‑powered peripherals, printers, and PDAs.
