The MAX5092_/MAX5093_ series low-quiescent-current, low-dropout (LDO) regulators contain simple boost preregulators operating at a high frequency.
The MAX5092A/B and MAX5093A/B are low‑quiescent, low‑dropout (LDO) regulators that incorporate a high‑frequency boost preregulator. They provide a preset 3.3 V or 5 V LDO output and a programmable boost output (7 V‑11 V for MAX5092, up to 12 V for MAX5093) from a wide input range of 4 V to 72 V, making them suitable for automotive and industrial applications.
The devices are offered in a thermally‑enhanced 16‑pin thin QFN package capable of dissipating up to 2.7 W at +70 °C. Key features include shutdown current as low as 5 µA, quiescent current of 65 µA in LDO mode, programmable output voltages, and built‑in protection functions such as overload, short‑circuit, and thermal shutdown.
| Input voltage range | 4 V – 72 V |
|---|---|
| Maximum output current | 250 mA |
| Quiescent current (LDO mode) | 65 µA typ. |
| Shutdown current | 5 µA typ. |
| Boost output voltage (preset) | 7 V |
| LDO output voltage range | 1.5 V – 9 V (MAX5092) / 1.5 V – 10 V (MAX5093) |
