The SL1714 is a quadrature downconverter intended primarily for application in professional and consumer digital satellite tuners
The SL1714 is a wideband quadrature downconverter intended for professional and consumer digital satellite tuners, data communications and cable systems. It integrates a low‑noise RF input amplifier, reference VCO, in‑phase and quadrature mixers, and baseband AGC amplifiers, requiring only an external local‑oscillator tank.
The device is supplied in a standard MP‑16 plastic package (SL1714) or a power MH‑16 package (SL1714C) and is compatible with dual‑ADC converters such as the VP216. Ordering options include sticks and tape‑and‑reel formats. Detailed electrical specifications, typical AGC characteristics, and package dimensions are provided in the datasheet.
| Input noise figure (DSB) | 17 dB |
|---|---|
| Maximum conversion gain | 48 dB |
| Minimum conversion gain | 28 dB |
| Output clip voltage | 1.5 V |
| Gain match up to 30 MHz | +0.5 dB |
| Phase match up to 30 MHz | ±15° |
| VCO phase noise (SSB @10 kHz offset) | -96 dBc/Hz |
| Prescaler division ratio | 32 |
| Prescaler output swing | 1.6 Vp‑p |
| Gain flatness up to 30 MHz | +0.5 dB |
The device should be operated with an output amplitude of 760 mV under lock conditions.
The output load must not exceed a parallel combination of 1 kΩ and 15 pF.
The SL1714 uses a standard MP‑16 plastic package, while the SL1714C uses a power MH‑16 plastic package.
