This document introduces the features and characteristics of DAC16 products, such as low distortion, high signal-to-noise ratio, and high speed, and is suitable for applications in communications, instrumentation, and ATE systems.
The DAC16 is a 16‑bit high‑speed current‑output DAC designed for communications, instrumentation, and ATE systems. It operates from +5 V and –15 V supplies, consumes about 190 mW typical power, and is available in 24‑lead DIP, SOL and die form factors. Its 5 mA full‑scale output current and TTL/CMOS‑compatible 16‑bit parallel bus make it suitable for waveform synthesis and modulation.
Key specifications include a 500 ns settling time, integral and differential linearities of ±2 LSB and ±1 LSB respectively, logic input thresholds of 2.4 V high and 0.8 V low, and an output capacitance of 10 pF. The device provides separate analog (AGND) and digital (DGND) grounds, and detailed grounding and bypassing recommendations are included to preserve precision performance.
