MAX6954 is a low-power 4-wire serial 7-segment, 14-segment, 16-segment LED display driver chip launched by MAXIM, supporting SPI / QSPI protocol, which can drive single 8-bit, 16-bit, 16-bit 7-segment, 128 discrete LEDs, and work with a supply voltage range of 2.7V-5.5V.
The MAX6954 is a compact display driver that interfaces microprocessors to 7‑segment, 14‑segment, and 16‑segment LED displays via a 4‑wire SPI/QSPI‑compatible serial interface. It can drive up to 16 digits of 7‑segment, 8 digits of 14‑segment, 8 digits of 16‑segment, or 128 discrete LEDs, and includes five GPIO lines that can be used for key‑scan functions.
Key features include a built‑in 104‑character ASCII font for 14‑ and 16‑segment displays, a hexadecimal font for 7‑segment displays, 16‑step digital brightness control, low‑power shutdown mode, and the ability to cascade multiple devices on the same bus. The device is offered in 36‑pin SSOP and 40‑pin PDIP packages and is rated for automotive temperature ranges.
