This user guide introduces the hardware and software design flow of the ATF15xx-DK3 development kit.
The ATF15xx-DK3 Development Kit is a complete CPLD development and in‑system programming solution for Atmel’s ATF15xx family of CPLDs. The kit includes a development/programmer board, a 44‑pin TQFP socket adapter board, an ISP download cable, software CDs, and two sample devices (ATF1502BE and ATF1504ASV). It offers selectable I/O and core voltage levels, a 2‑MHz crystal oscillator, LEDs, push‑button switches, and 7‑segment displays to facilitate rapid prototyping and evaluation.
The guide details the hardware features, provides the CPLD design flow tutorial, lists system requirements (Pentium‑class PC, Windows XP/98/NT4/2000, 4 MB RAM, 200 MB free disk, parallel printer port, 9 V DC supply, SVGA monitor), ordering information for optional socket adapters, and references to Atmel’s software tools and support resources.
| I/O Voltage Options | 5 V, 3.3 V, 2.5 V, 1.8 V |
|---|---|
| Core Voltage Options | 1.8 V, 3.3 V, 5.0 V |
| Oscillator | 2 MHz crystal |
| Power Supply | 9 V DC, 500 mA |
| Socket Adapter Board | 44‑pin TQFP (P/N: ATF15xx‑DK3‑SAA44) |
| Sample Device 1 | ATF1502BE – 1.8 V, 32‑macrocell CPLD |
| Sample Device 2 | ATF1504ASV – 3.3 V, 64‑macrocell CPLD |
You need a Pentium‑class PC running Windows XP, 98, NT 4.0 or 2000, at least 4 MB RAM, 200 MB free disk space, a parallel printer port, a 9 V DC supply with 500 mA current, and an SVGA monitor.
The board allows selection of 5 V, 3.3 V, 2.5 V, or 1.8 V for I/O voltage supply.
The kit includes an ATF1502BE (1.8 V, 32‑macrocell) and an ATF1504ASV (3.3 V, 64‑macrocell) CPLD.
Optional socket adapter boards such as the ATF15xx‑DK3‑SAA100 (100‑pin TQFP) and ATF15xx‑DK3‑SAJ84 (84‑pin PLCC) can be purchased separately.
