3M 1170 Aluminum Foil Tape is a conductive foil tape with excellent conductivity and is used for grounding and EMI shielding.
3M 1170 Tape consists of a 1‑ounce dead‑soft aluminum foil backing and a conductive pressure‑sensitive acrylic adhesive. It is supplied on a removable liner and available in standard widths from 1/4" to 23" and standard length of 18 yards.
The tape provides excellent electrical conductivity for grounding and EMI shielding, with typical far‑field shielding effectiveness of 60 dB to 75 dB (30 MHz to 1 GHz). Technical specifications include backing thickness, total thickness, breaking strength, adhesion to steel, and low electrical resistance through the adhesive.
