The MAX3355E is an integrated USB OTG dual-role transceiver chip that supports the direct connection of peripherals and mobile devices such as PDAs, cellular phones, MP3 players, and digital cameras.
The MAX3355E integrates a charge pump and comparators to enable USB On‑the‑Go (OTG) dual‑role functionality. It provides a VBUS charge‑pump output, ID detection, and internal comparators for host negotiation, supporting low‑voltage ASICs down to 1.65 V.
Key features include a guaranteed 8 mA VBUS output, +15 kV ESD protection on VBUS and ID_IN, up to +6 V back‑drive capability, and operation over a –40 °C to +85 °C temperature range. The device is offered in a 4 × 3 mm UCSP package and a 14‑pin TSSOP package.
| VBUS Charge‑Pump Output Current | 8 mA (min) |
|---|---|
| ESD Protection | +15 kV on VBUS and ID_IN |
| Supply Voltage Range | +2.6 V to +5.5 V |
| Logic Supply Voltage Range | +1.65 V to +5.5 V |
| Back‑drive Capability | Up to +6.0 V |
| Shutdown Current | < 1 pA |
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to +85 °C |
| Package Types | 4 × 3 mm UCSP, 14‑pin TSSOP |
The device provides +15 kV ESD protection on both the VBUS and ID_IN pins.
The charge pump guarantees a minimum VBUS output current of 8 mA.
Connect the SHDN pin to GND; the device then reduces supply current to less than 1 pA and disables the charge pump and comparators.
It is offered in a 4 × 3 mm UCSP package and a 14‑pin TSSOP package.
