Energy Metering IC with On-Chip Fault and Missing Neutral Detection ADE7761A, this IC supports IEC 62053-21 standard, has high accuracy and high dynamic range, supports DC and AC current measurement, supports 2-wire power system fault detection and missing neutral detection.
The ADE7761A is a high‑accuracy, fault‑tolerant electrical energy measurement IC intended for 2‑wire distribution systems. It provides active‑power pulse outputs, fault detection, and missing‑neutral detection, all processed digitally for stability across temperature and time.
Key features include less than 0.1 % measurement error over a 500:1 dynamic range, dual logic outputs for fault and reverse power, on‑chip reference and oscillator, and a single 5 V supply. The device supports calibration via the CF output and can directly drive electromechanical counters or stepper motors.
| Measurement Error | 0.1 % of reading (typ) |
|---|---|
| Phase Error Between Channels | max Phase lead 37° |
| Output Frequency Variation (PSR) | 0.01 % (typ) |
| Bandwidth (‑3 dB) | 7 kHz typ |
| Reference Error | +200 mV max |
| Oscillator Frequency | 450 kHz |
| Temperature Coefficient (reference) | 30 ppm/°C typ |
It continuously monitors the input voltage; when no voltage is present, the FAULT pin goes high and billing continues based on the active current signal.
The device operates from a single 5 V supply with a tolerance of ±5 %.
The maximum differential input level is ±660 mV peak.
