This document describes the features and characteristics of the single-phase energy measurement ICs (ADE7566/ADE7569/ADE7166/ADE7169) including 8052 MCU, RTC, and LCD driver.
The ADE7566/ADE7569/ADE7166/ADE7169 family integrates an analog front‑end, DSP‑based energy metering core, an 8052‑compatible MCU, a real‑time clock, and an LCD driver into a single IC for single‑phase energy meters. The devices provide active, reactive, and apparent energy calculations, RMS voltage/current measurement, and power‑line supervisory functions such as sag and peak detection.
This handbook covers general features, detailed energy‑measurement capabilities, microprocessor functions, full specifications, pin descriptions, register maps, power‑management modes, and programming guidelines. It also includes ordering information, mechanical dimensions, and application notes for implementing the ICs in meter designs.
| Supply voltage operation | 2.4 V to 3.7 V |
|---|---|
| Operating temperature range | –40 °C to +85 °C |
| Active energy measurement error | 0.1 % of reading over a dynamic range of 1000 to 1 @ 25 °C |
| Reactive energy measurement error (ADE7569/ADE7169) | ≤0.5 % of reading over a dynamic range of 1000 to 1 @ 25 °C |
| RTC battery‑mode current consumption | 1.5 pA |
| LCD driver segment count | 108‑segment (ADE7566/ADE7569) / 104‑segment (ADE7166/ADE7169) |
| On‑chip memory | 16 kB flash, 512 bytes RAM |
The devices operate from 2.4 V up to 3.7 V.
Active energy is measured with an error of 0.1 % of the reading over a dynamic range of 1000 : 1 at 25 °C.
The ADE7569 uses a 108‑segment LCD driver.
The RTC draws only 1.5 pA in battery mode.
