About this manual

The ISL8563E is a dual‑channel RS‑562/RS‑232 transceiver that operates from a single 3 V to 5.5 V supply. It provides +15 kV ESD protection on all I/O pins, guarantees a minimum data rate of 250 kbps, and consumes very little power, making it suitable for battery‑powered devices such as PDAs, palmtops, and notebook computers.

Key features include on‑chip dual charge pumps that generate the required ±5.5 V transmitter supplies, four external 0.1 µF capacitors, a manual power‑down pin (SHDN) for ultra‑low standby current, and an EN pin to disable receiver outputs for further power savings.
