This document describes the features and characteristics of ADM660/ADM8660 CMOS Switched-Capacitor Voltage Converters, including input voltage inversion or doubling, output current, shutdown function, capacitor requirements, low power CMOS, etc.
The ADM660/ADM8660 family provides charge‑pump voltage conversion for handheld instruments, portable computers, remote data acquisition and op‑amp power supplies. ADM660 can invert or double the input supply voltage, while ADM8660 provides only inversion with a low‑power shutdown pin.
Typical applications use only two external capacitors (2.2 µF or 10 µF) and selectable charge‑pump frequencies of 25 kHz or 120 kHz to optimise efficiency and component size. The devices are pin‑compatible upgrades for MAX660, MAX665, ICL7660 and are offered in DIP, SOIC and TSSOP packages.
| Output Current (continuous) | 100 mA |
|---|---|
| Power Efficiency (FC = Open, ADM8660) | 90 % – 94 % |
| Charge‑Pump Frequency | 25 kHz or 120 kHz |
A 10 µF external capacitor is recommended when the charge‑pump frequency is set to 25 kHz.
Both devices can deliver up to 100 mA of continuous output current.
They are offered in 8‑lead DIP, narrow‑body SOIC, and a 16‑lead TSSOP package.
