About this manual

The ADM1232 is a pin‑compatible upgrade for the MAX1232 and DS1232 families, providing microprocessor supply‑voltage monitoring, lock‑up detection, and external interrupt handling. It is available in four packages (ARM, AN, ARW, ARN) and requires no external components.

Key features include selectable voltage‑trip points (4.5 V or 4.75 V), adjustable strobe timeout, push‑button reset with debounce, and both active‑high and open‑drain reset outputs. The device operates from a 4.5 V to 5.5 V supply and consumes less than 500 µA.

Frequently asked questions

How is the voltage‑tolerance level selected?

Connect the TOLERANCE pin to GND for a 5 % tolerance (trip at ~4.75 V) or to VCC for a 10 % tolerance (trip at ~4.5 V).
