ABB ACS 1000 Service Note Auxiliary Power Upgrade

ABB offers an auxiliary power upgrade for its ACS 1000 medium voltage drive to further increase the drive's reliability and availability. The upgrade eliminates the need for internal backup batteries by using a safe line auxiliary source from the customer's UPS. This improves the reliability and availability of the ACS 1000.

About this manual

The auxiliary power upgrade replaces the original battery‑backed supply with a safe‑line UPS source, improving reliability and availability of the ACS 1000 variable speed drive. The new concept eliminates the one‑second power‑loss‑ride‑through limitation of the backup batteries.

The upgrade includes two ready‑wired assemblies, an interface board jumper, and optional parts for air‑cooled or water‑cooled versions. It can be ordered from ABB service organizations using specific part codes, and the on‑site installation typically requires about one working day.
