Takara BL21 Chaperone Competent Cells User Guide

Chaperone Competent Cells BL21 series is a kind of competent cells produced by TaKaRa company. It can be used to express foreign proteins. The product contains five types of plasmids (pG-KJE8, pGro7, pKJE7, pG-Tf2, pTf16), each of which is able to effectively express a group of cooperatively acting and participating proteins. Folded molecular chaperones. When the target protein is co-expressed with one of the “Chaperone team”, the recovery rate of soluble protein can be increased, while by conventional methods, due to the formation of inclusion bodies, these expressed proteins are often not recoverable.

About this manual

This guide describes the Chaperone Competent Cells BL21 series, including the five plasmid types (pPGro7, pKJE7, pG‑Tf2, pTf16, pKJE8) that provide chaperone assistance for improved protein solubility. It lists the components supplied, such as 100 µL cell suspensions per tube and pUC19 DNA control.

The manual provides detailed storage conditions, thawing steps, and a step‑by‑step transformation procedure, including recommended DNA amounts, heat‑shock parameters, and post‑transformation recovery. It also notes incompatibility with T7‑based expression vectors and outlines antibiotic selection guidelines for co‑expression experiments. This manual is written in Chinese.

Frequently asked questions

How should the competent cells be stored?

Store the cells at –80 °C; if not kept at this temperature the transformation efficiency will drop.

What is the maximum amount of DNA to use for a transformation?

Use no more than 10 ng of DNA per reaction to maintain high transformation efficiency.
