This document introduces the SILFLEX SiHF product launched by Lapp Limited in the Farnell Catalogue. The product is a temperature-resistant and halogen-free silicon multi-core cable that can be used in high ambient temperatures ranging from -50°C to +180°C. The cable is resistant to mineral oil, alcohol, acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and saltwater. After combustion, it forms a SiO2 ash skeleton which retains good insulating properties but loses mechanical stability. The cable's gases are halogen-free and non-corrosive. The cable is designed according to VDE 0250 part 816, with a conductor strand made of tinned copper wires according to IEC 228 and VDE 0295 class 5. The core insulation is made of a silicone-based compound 2GI1 according to VDE 0207 part 20, and identification of up to 5 cores is in accordance with VDE 0293, with more than 5 cores being black with white numbers. The outer sheath is made of a silicone-based compound according to VDE 0207 part 21 (2GM1), and the outer sheath color is red RAL 3000. The electrical properties include a nominal voltage of 300/500 V and a test voltage of 2000 V AC at 20°C. The mechanical and thermal properties include a minimum bending radius of 15 times the cable diameter for flexing use. The cable is flame retardant according to IEC 60 332.1 resp. VDE 0482 part 265-2-1, and halogen-free according to IEC 754-1. It has been tested according to VDE 0472 and IEC 811-x.x that is VDE 0473, and it complies with the EC directive ECD 73/23/EEC (low voltage directive).
