The MAX1966/MAX1967 are voltage-mode pulse-width-modulated (PWM), step-down DC-DC controllers that are ideal for a variety of cost-sensitive applications. They drive low-cost N-MOSFETs for both the high-side switch and synchronous rectifier and require no external Schottky power diode or current-sense resistor. Short-circuit and current-limit protection is provided by sensing the drain-to-source voltage on the low-side FET. Both devices can supply outputs as low as 0.8V and are well suited for DSP cores and other low-voltage logic. The MAX1966 has an input range of 2.7V to 5.5V while the MAX1967 has an input range of 2.7V to 28V. In ultra-low-cost designs, the MAX1966/MAX1967 can provide efficiency exceeding 90% and can achieve 95% efficiency with optimized component selection. The MAX1966/MAX1967 operate at 100kHz and accommodate aluminum electrolytic capacitors and powdered-iron core magnetics in minimum-cost designs. They also provide excellent performance with high-performance surface-mount components. The MAX1966 is available in a low-cost 8-pin SO package. The MAX1967 is available in a 10-pin µMAX package.

MAX5977A evaluation board is a hot swap controller board to control the turn on of large power and large capacitance loads to avoid spikes in the power supply. The evaluation circuit uses MAX5977A fault-locked, 20-pin TQFN surface-mount package (with bare solder pads) hot swap controller IC. The evaluation board operates in the 1V to 16V input power range, and the power is connected to the VIN and GND connectors. The IC controls two n-channel MOSFETs, and provides up to 40A of output current. The evaluation board circuit ensures that the output voltage is stable and within the undervoltage (UV) and overvoltage (OV) threshold range. The circuit continuously monitors the load current to ensure that it does not exceed the programmable fast and slow current limiting thresholds. The evaluation board provides a buffered output for the IC's current sensing amplifier, including a precision current source. When the IC calibration mode function is enabled, a 2.5V output is provided. By replacing U1, the evaluation board can also be used to evaluate the MAX5977B auto-retry hot swap controller.

The MAX66040 is a secure memory that complies with the ISO/IEC 14443 Type B standard. The DS3065W is a combination of static RAM and nonvolatile controller, with a year 2000-compliant real-time clock and an internal rechargeable manganese lithium battery. It has a 256-ball BGA footprint and internal rechargeable function. When powered by an external power source, it can recharge the manganese lithium battery, power the clock and SRAM, and allow modification of the clock registers or SRAM contents. When the external power is powered down or out-of-tolerance, the controller write-protects the memory contents and powers the clock and SRAM from the battery. The DS3065W also contains a power-supply monitor output and a user-programmable interrupt output.

The DS1803 is a dual digital potentiometer from MAXIM that features two independently controlled 256-position potentiometers. Device control is achieved through a 2-wire serial interface. Three address pins allow up to 8 DS1803s to share the same 2-wire interface. The exact wiper position of each potentiometer can be written or read. The DS1803 is available in a 16-pin DIP, 16-pin SO, and 14-pin TSSOP package. The device is available in three standard resistance values: 10kΩ, 50kΩ, and 100kΩ and is specified over the industrial temperature range.

The MAX1492/MAX1494 are low-power, 3.5- and 4.5-digit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with integrated liquid crystal display (LCD) drivers that operate from a single 2.7V to 5.25V power supply. They include an internal reference, a high-accuracy on-chip oscillator, and a triplexed LCD driver. An internal charge pump generates the negative supply needed for single-supply operation. The ADC can be configured for either a ±2V or ±200mV input range and outputs its conversion results to an LCD and/or to a microcontroller (µC). µC communication is facilitated through an SPI™-/QSPI™-/MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface. The MAX1492 is a 3.5-digit (±1999 count) device, and the MAX1494 is a 4.5-digit (±19,999 count) device. The MAX1492/MAX1494 do not require external precision integrating capacitors, autozero capacitors, crystal oscillators, charge pumps, or other circuitry required with dual-slope ADCs commonly used in panel meter circuits. These devices also feature on-chip buffers for the differential signal and reference inputs, allowing direct interface with high-impedance signal sources. In addition, they use continuous internal-offset calibration and offer >100dB simultaneous rejection of 50Hz and 60Hz line noise. Other features include data hold and peak hold, overrange and underrange detection, and a low-battery monitor.

The MAX9503 is a low-power, high-gain video amplifier that filters and amplifies standard-definition video signals. The MAX9503 internally integrates a reconstruction filter to smooth the DAC output video signal steps and spikes. The MAX9503 uses Maxim's DirectDrive technology, which uses an integrated charge pump and a linear regulator to generate a clean negative power supply to drive the sync below ground. The MAX9503 provides +6dB and +12dB gain options. The device operates from a 2.7V to 3.6V single supply and features a 10nA low-power shutdown mode. The MAX9503 is offered in space-saving 16-pin QSOP and 16-pin TQFN packages and is specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range.
