NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR LM78LXX Series handbook

The LM78LXX series is a three-terminal positive regulator with several fixed output voltages, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. When used as a zener diode/resistor combination replacement, the LM78LXX usually results in a significant improvement in effective output impedance and lower quiescent current. These regulators can provide on-card regulation, eliminating the distribution problems associated with single point regulation. The available voltages allow the LM78LXX to be used in logic systems, instrumentation, HiFi, and other solid-state electronic equipment. The LM78LXX is available in plastic TO-92 (Z) package, plastic SO-8 (M) package, and a chip-sized package (8-Bump micro SMD) using National's micro SMD package technology. With sufficient heat sinking, the regulator can deliver an output current of 100mA. Current limiting is included to limit the peak output current to a safe value. Safe area protection is provided for the output transistors to limit internal power dissipation. If the internal power dissipation exceeds the heat sinking capability, the thermal shutdown circuit prevents the IC from overheating.

NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR - LM75 handbook

LM75 is a chip that integrates temperature sensor, Delta-Sigma analog-to-digital converter and digital over-temperature detector, and is equipped with I2C interface. The host can query the LM75 at any time to read temperature. When the temperature exceeds a programmable limit, the open-drain over-temperature shut-down (O.S.) output becomes active. This pin can operate in either “Comparator” or “Interrupt” mode. The host can program both the temperature alarm threshold (TOS) and the temperature at which the alarm condition goes away (THYST). In addition, the host can read back the con- tents of the LM75’s TOS and THYST registers. Three pins (A0, A1, A2) are available for address selection. The sensor powers up in Comparator mode with default thresholds of 80˚C TOS and 75˚C THYST. The LM75’s 3.0V to 5.5V supply voltage range, low supply current and I2C interface make it ideal for a wide range of applications. These include thermal management and pro- tection applications in personal computers, electronic test equipment, and office electronics.

NATIONAL LM2756 handbook

The LM2756 is a highly integrated, switched-capacitor, multi-display LED driver that can drive up to 8 LEDs in parallel with a total output current of 180mA. Regulated internal current sources deliver excellent current and brightness matching in all LEDs. The LED driver current sinks are split into three independently controlled groups. The primary group (Group A) can be configured to drive four, five or six LEDs for use in the main phone display, while the secondary group (Group B) can be configured to drive one, two or three LEDs for driving secondary displays, keypads and/or indicator LEDs. An additional driver, D1C, is provided for additional indicator lighting functions. The device provides excellent efficiency without the use of an inductor by operating the charge pump in a gain of 3/2 or in Pass-Mode. The proper gain for maintaining current regulation is chosen, based on LED forward voltage, so that efficiency is maximized over the input voltage range. The LM2756 is available in National’s tiny 20-bump, 0.4mm pitch, thin micro SMD package.
