The EUP7966 is a high‑current, low‑dropout regulator with enable pin and power‑OK output, available in SOP‑8.
The EUP7966 is a high‑current, fast‑response low‑dropout regulator designed for applications that require very low input voltage and dropout voltage at up to 2 A. It operates from two input rails – a 5 V bias (VBIAS) for the gate driver and a low VIN that can be as low as 1.2 V. The device includes an enable pin to reduce quiescent power and a Power‑OK (POK) pin that indicates when the output reaches 92 % of its rated voltage.
Typical applications include motherboards, peripheral cards, network cards, set‑top boxes and notebook computers. The regulator is supplied in a RoHS‑compliant SOP‑8 (FD) package and offers fixed output options of 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V and 2.5 V, each of which can be adjusted down to 0.8 V with external resistors.
| Input Voltage Range | 1.2 V – 3.6 V |
|---|---|
| Fixed Output Voltages | 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V |
| Dropout Voltage (2 A) | 300 mV |
| Quiescent Current | 1.1 mA – 2.5 mA |
| Enable Pin Threshold | < 0.4 V to disable |
| Operating Temperature Range | -40 °C to 85 °C |
The regulator can deliver up to 2 A of output current.
The VEN (enable) pin controls operation; pulling it below 0.4 V turns the regulator off, while leaving it open or high enables it.
The dropout voltage is 300 mV when delivering 2 A at a 1.2 V output.
