The CAREL EVD Evolution driver manual provides installation, wiring, configuration and safety information for the electronic expansion valve driver.
This user manual describes the CAREL EVD Evolution electronic expansion valve driver, a PID controller for superheat regulation in refrigeration circuits. It covers the driver’s hardware, wiring diagrams, power requirements, input/output connections, and the optional display unit used for commissioning and parameter programming.
The document also details the configuration steps for network address, refrigerant type, valve type and main regulation mode, as well as safety warnings, LED indicators, and firmware update procedures. Compatibility with a wide range of refrigerants and valve models is listed, and technical specifications such as power supply limits, relay ratings and maximum cable lengths are provided.
| DC power supply (max cable length) | 24 Vdc, Lmax = 5 m |
|---|---|
| AC power supply (max cable length) | 24 Vac, 50/60 Hz, Lmax = 5 m |
| Power consumption with ALCO EX7/EX8 valves | 16.2 W |
| Relay contact rating (resistive load) | 5 A, 250 Vac |
| Maximum number of connectable drivers in a network | 5 |
| Maximum RS485 cable length | 1000 m |
The driver supports R22, R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R507A, R290, R600, R600a, R717, R744, R728, R1270, R417A, R422D, R413A, R422A, R423A, R407A, R427A, R245Fa, R407F, R32, HTR01 and HTR02.
Up to five drivers can be connected in a single network.
The RS485 link can be up to 1000 meters long when using shielded cable.
The emergency supply voltage is 22 Vdc ± 5 %.
