This application note provides a demonstration package based on the open source SSL/TLS library PolarSSL, which provides SSL/TLS migration and usage examples for STM32F417xx devices, supporting IP, UDP, TCP, ICMP protocols
This document presents a demonstration package built on top of the free PolarSSL library to demonstrate Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS) cryptographic protocols on STM32F417xx microcontrollers. The note leverages the hardware cryptographic processor embedded in these devices to support AES, Triple DES, DES, SHA-1, MD5, and RNG operations.
The application targets only STM32F417xx devices, as the cryptographic acceleration is not present in STM32F407xx devices. The demonstration utilizes the STM3241G-EVAL board as the hardware platform and covers configuration for both SSL client and server demonstrations, including PHY interface settings and memory footprint analysis.
| Supported Microcontroller Series | STM32F417xx |
|---|---|
| Hardware Platform | STM3241G-EVAL |
| Supported Cryptographic Algorithms | AES/128/192/256, Triple DES, DES, SHA-1, MD5 and RNG |
| Ethernet Interface Support | 10/100 Mbit/s |
| Document Revision | Rev 1 |
This application targets only STM32F417xx devices because the cryptographic acceleration is not embedded in STM32F407xx devices.
The demonstration uses the STM3241G-EVAL board as the hardware platform.
