This document provides an overview and running guide for STR7 in-application programming using UART.
The document describes the principle and implementation of In-Application Programming (IAP) for STR7xx microcontrollers. It details how the IAP driver loads a binary file from a HyperTerminal application via the UART protocol into the MCU's internal Flash memory.
The guide provides specific instructions on configuring the HyperTerminal, triggering the execution of the IAP driver using push buttons or active levels, and navigating the IAP menu to download new images. It also includes implementation summaries for different STR7xx series (STR71x, STR73x, STR75x) regarding memory addresses and pin configurations.
| IAP driver code size (STR71x) | 7.2 Kbytes |
|---|---|
| IAP driver code size (STR73x) | 8.3 Kbytes |
| IAP driver code size (STR75x) | 5.8 Kbytes |
| UART Baud rate example | 115200 bps |
The user can keep a push button pressed at reset to run the IAP driver, or enter signals on specific pins corresponding to their active levels.
The YMODEM protocol is used to receive all data from the HyperTerminal application.
The IAP driver must be programmed at the Flash base address (sector 0 base address).
