This document introduces the features and characteristics of the 6-A, 12-V input non-isolated wide output adjust power module, including maximum output current, input voltage, output voltage range, efficiency, power density, on/off inhibit, under-voltage lockout, operating temperature, automatic tracking sequence, output over-current protection, IPC lead-free 2, safety agency approval, point-of-load alliance (POLA) compatibility, etc.
The PTH12050 series represents the smallest age group of non-isolated power modules from Texas Instruments. These compact devices feature an adjustable output voltage range (1.2 V to 5.5 V for W-suffix, or 0.8 V to 1.8 V for L-suffix) and utilize Auto-Track™ sequencing to simplify power-up in complex systems by enabling modules to track each other or an external voltage.
Despite their small physical size of 0.87 inches x 0.5 inches, the modules are rated for up to 6 A of output current. They operate from a 12-V input and employ a synchronous rectifier output stage to achieve efficiencies up to 93%. Key features include output over-current protection with auto-reset, on/off inhibit capability, and under-voltage lockout.
