This document explains the acid cleaning process for the IntelliChlor electrolytic cell if there is excessive scale formation between the plates or debris is present.
This document provides instructions for the IntelliChlor Electrolytic Cell Acid Cleaning Kit (P/N 520670), designed for IntelliChlor models IC20 and IC40. It details the installation of the kit components, which include an o-ring, washer, and cap, onto the electrolytic cell.
The guide also outlines the procedure for acid washing the cell to remove excessive scale formation or debris that cannot be cleaned with water. It specifies safety precautions, the mixing ratio for the cleaning solution, and the steps for rinsing and reinstalling the unit.
| Compatible Models | IntelliChlor model IC20, IC40 |
|---|---|
| Kit Part Number | P/N 520670 |
| Cleaning Frequency | Every two months if scale or debris is present |
| Acid Solution Ratio | One quart of muriatic acid with one gallon of tap water |
| Maximum Acid Exposure Time | 1/2 hour |
The cell must be acid cleaned if excessive scale formation between the plates or debris is present, or if it cannot be reasonably cleaned using water from a high-pressure garden hose.
Users must always wear eye protection and rubber gloves, work in a well-ventilated area, and always add acid to the water, never water to the acid.
It is recommended that the cell be removed for inspection at least twice a year, or every two months if scale or debris is observed.
